Taylor Hicks Whomps the Fourth!

Taylor Hicks traditionally celebrates the Fourth of July on stage. In his first major appearance after winning American Idol, 2006, he appeared at the Stadium of Fire in Salt Lake City, Utah. Before a cheering crowd waving American flags, he thanked our Armed Forces for the work they do and began a tradition of dedicating his new release, Do I Make You Proud, to our troops.

Another Fourth, and on another stage in 2007, Hicks entertained outdoors at the Red White and Boom festival in Spartanburg, VA. In the middle of his summer tour with his tight tour band he performed tour classics. A huge American flag in the background reminded all that it was the nation's birthday and Taylor Hicks was celebrating it in his own style.

This year, A Capitol Fourth will present Taylor Hicks in the nation's capital for the country's huge celebration of fireworks and a star-studded concert. Hicks headlines with Huey Lewis and the News in the musical extravaganza on July 4, hosted by Jimmy Smits.

Singing to huge crowds was nothing new to Taylor Hicks when he first performed the Star Spangled Banner in November, 2006, at the Nascar race in Homestead, Florida.

Nailing the National Anthem with ease and intensity, he again performed it at the NBA Finals in June, 2007, in Cleveland, Ohio. A summer performance of the Anthem began the race at Kentucky International Speedway in Sparta, KY, July, 2007.

Returning to down home, where he once played a gig in the infield, Hicks again gave an intense performance at Talladega International Raceway in April, 2008, at Talladega, AL. With his strong and intense whiskey tenor voice, he gives our National Anthem a new vibrancy as only he can.
