Grease is still the word in Cincinnati...
Morning shows in Cincinnati welcome Taylor Hicks…
A warm welcome was out for Taylor Hicks as Grease came to Cincinnati last week. In a string of interviews and performances Taylor talked about Grease and his new album. Grease continues through February 1.
Singing the riot act...
"The real star of this tour was also born of a reality TV show. “American Idol” Taylor Hicks has a second act cameo as the Teen Angel, a Frankie Avalon-type who comes down from above to sing the riot act to Frenchy, and get her back into high school.
"The opening night audience greeted Hicks’ second act cameo with bigger applause than anything in the show had gotten to that point; Hicks vamped through his scene and showed off the voice that won the votes of millions." (Jackie Demaline,news.cincinnati.com)
Taylor's Dream Team...
At Cincinnati Fox 19 when talk turned to his new album, Taylor was rightfully proud of "The Distance" and working with some of Eric Clapton’s musicians. “A lot of Eric’s touring band came into the studio and recorded with me...Nathan East is the bass player [Eric Clapton's bass man]and Abe Laborial plays drums, who played with Paul McCarty. ...Those kind of caliber of musicians you always dream about playing with...It’s going to be a great album." Taylor performs more new music at 20th Century...Taylor Hicks continues to promote his new CD "The Distance" due out March 10 in the Shadow Tour. "Hide Nor Hair," historically with an upbeat Motown sound, and Bobby Womack's classic "Woman's Gotta Have It" hit the setlist with Taylor originals and covers at the 20th Century Theatre performance Saturday night in Oakley. An eclectic performance ran from Taylor's own mantra, "Soul Thing" to Eric Clapton's great rock classic, "Badge" for the encore. Taylor has never said he couldn't do rock...and he proves it every time on "Badge!"
"What's Right Is Right," the single release from the album was debuted last weekend in Chicago and was on the setlist again at 20th Century Theatre.
