Taylor Hicks
"for the troops"
Taylor Hicks pays tribute to the brave men and women of our Armed Forces with his performance of "Nineteen" from his new album The Distance. At the end of the song he says: “That’s for the troops.”
“Nineteen” is the story of a young American hero written by Jeffrey Steele, Tom Hambridge, and Gary Nicholson. It is music that touches our hearts and reminds us that freedom is not free.
PayTheDevil shares her video of Taylor performing the poignant song. "Nineteen" at Roxy's

The people around Taylor...
Taylor talked to Q107.5 in Memphis last week about his new album, The Distance. The host commented that Taylor had people with a lot of song writing history come in...
“The people that knew who I was as a artist and the people that were reflective in the styles that were reflective of me...that's the key...having people around you who know who you are, and this time around that happened.”

Taylor and bodyguard Carmine at stage door
Taylor was featured in a segment of FOXRealty TV's show, "Bodyguards" with his "Grease" bodyguards, Carmine Lucariello and Mickey G. When Taylor wanted to stop in busy Times Square for a picture in front of his giant billboards, Carmine expressed his apprehension: "I have no backup. He's American Idol. He's in "Grease." He's hot!" They made it through the crowd and to safety. "Expect the unexpected" is the mantra of these bodyguards to the New York stars.
