Taylor magic...
“For me, you can take it all. But leave me with the music.”
Taylor Hicks
"It always comes down to the music. There is nothing more central to Taylor Hicks—it IS his heart and soul. There was just Taylor and the music last week at The Magic Bag in a rare acoustic performance.
"Music lovers gave the show the highest review: "the best." The layers between the artist and the music were torn away and the audience was taken away by the pure voice of Taylor Hicks and his music.
"The varied set list did not disappoint. It included music not seen on the concert stage before—'Maybe You Should' and 'Indiscriminate Act of Kindness,' both with lyrics of intense emotion. There were delightful surprises like the tag of 'Sugaree' and James Taylor’s 'Copperline.' Shades of American Idol Tour, there was 'Don’t Let Me Down,' a big time favorite from the start of this journey. It is still near the top of my favorites list. And I understand from an SOS board member who was on the front row, that the most fun song to SEE was 'Wedding Day Blues.' It only takes a little imagination to visualize this one!" (TTHC Blog)

Shadow Tour turnaround...
Taylor Hicks announced this week on twitter that "surprise guests" will join the Shadow Tour concert at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta on August 16th. It is a turnaround from the original Shadow Tours during the American Idol concert tour in 2006 when he was sometimes known to be the “surprise guest!” The original Shadow Tour started during the American Idol tour when Taylor would meet up with his old band, LIMBO at local venues after the Idol show. Biloxi, MS show added to Shadow Tour...
"Seven Mile Breakdown" is still sitting comfortably atop the MuVids.com Top 200 List and also No. 1 on their Top Ten Country Music videos with over 163,000 views. It shows no signs of going anywhere.
“Seven Mile Breakdown” was added to the country music genre on MuVids.com in May, 2009. It outranks pop favorites Pussy Cat Dolls, The Black Eyed Peas and Lady GaGa. It tops some very impressive country music stars in that genre's Top Ten List.
Taylor talks to Michigan press...
“'I started touring when I was 17, so I’m used to touring and performing and being out there. In the music business, the best way the artist can succeed and sustain a long career is by touring.'
"And, Hicks says, he’s perfectly happy with the way things have turned out.
'I do have a sense of freedom now,' Hicks, 32, says. 'I wanted to go back to where I started, where I was beginning to scratch the surface before ‘American Idol’ happened.'
“'...I think I knew exactly what direction I wanted to go in as an artist before (‘Idol’). I’ve had that direction for a long time, so it’s best for me to carry on being an artist that knows who he is.'” (www.theoaklandpress.com)
