Taylor still draws theater goers...
Even in a tanking economy, Taylor Hicks can still pull in the crowds to see Grease. The Sun Chronicle, in Attleboro Maine recently discussed the impact of the failing economy on theater ticket sales. Major players in the business weighed in with a cautiously optimistic outlook. Lynn Singleton, president of the Providence Performing Arts Center, said his confidence in the theater's programming is what keeps him "cautiously optimistic" for survival.
"Advanced sales for the national tour of Grease, starring American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, are very strong and sales for Legally Blonde, which opened its national tour at the theater in September also were strong," he said. (The Sun Chronicle, Attleboro, MA)
Taylor opens in the National Tour of Grease at The Providence Performing Arts Center, Dec. 2, where he will continue his wildly successful Broadway role as the harmonica-wielding Teen Angel. In an interesting twist on the summer Broadway hit, Taylor will also appear as himself in a rewrite of the Grease script. He will perform the single from his upcoming album.
