The Iron Bowl 08, Alabama’s intense college rivalry between Alabama and Auburn, hosted a big fan of football, Taylor Hicks, on Saturday. It isn’t clear where he sat. The Alabama native attended Auburn before his musical career took off. Above, he visited with Alabama Athletics director Mal Moore after the game in Tuscaloosa. Teen Angel Taylor Hicks and the kids from Ridell High take off across America in one of the weakest economies in years. If presales in Providence are an indicator, they will do just fine.

"People still have to live. You still have to enjoy life," said Margaret Brooks, chairwoman of the economics department at Bridgewater State College, who believes that entertainment, specifically local entertainment, might be the last item to survive most people's discretionary income budget.

"Advanced sales for the national tour of Grease, starring American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence are very strong even in this economic environment..." the local Sun Chronicle reported in October.
