Taylor in Milwaukee
"The Deal" was written by Taylor Hicks and featured on his second album, "Under The Radar." It is a concert favorite on the "Whomp at the Warfield" setlist.
"Early Works" recently reviewed by Mp3Boost
“What is without any doubt is that listening to this album you can tell Taylor Hicks never did need Paul,Randy or Simon’s validation as a musical entity. …The first album [In Your Time] included in this set was released at the peak of the 90’s soul/funk revival made popular through tribute albums, samples and alternative rock festivals and the sound that the album achieves should’ve easily made Hicks one of that areas shinning stars. ...Taylor and his great band somehow manage to marry R&B,funk,Southern rock, jazz, latin and folk flavors so successfully it’s hard to descern one from the other and is some of the finest of this kind of music I’ve heard since the heyday of the Allmans and the Doobie Brothers in the 70’s. ...this guy was (and still is in my opinion) someone with the drive, musicality and star power to make it as his own entity.
"The newer album [Under the Radar] is a bit harder driving and slightly slicker...Throughout this album Hicks’ writing, guitar as well as his vocal talents are highlighted and …it is more than worth the publics time to become acquainted with this music. Rating: 5 / 5" (Andre S. Grindle, 2.13.2010 on Mp3Boost)
“Taylor Hicks’ seven minutes in Grease are phenomenal”

"WHATABOUTTAYLORHICKS?!? Yes, if you have watched any local television in the last few weeks, you know that the American Idol Season 5 winner, the silver fox of the “Soul Patrol,” Taylor Hicks, was cast in the traditional “Oh, hey, it’s that guy” musical cameo role of Teen Angel. ...he’s ...really awesome in it. I admit I was expecting a “Hey, weren’t you supposed to sell a lot of records?” trainwreck, but the man was hilariously phenomenal, even making some playful jabs at his quasi-celebrity status.
"...There are worse things you could do with your weekend than watch Taylor Hicks emerge from a giant ice cream cone like some sequined moth in a doo-wop cocoon. .. When Hicks played us out of the auditorium with a song from his current CD, I can honestly say I regretted missing Smackdown [WWE]not a lick."
