"So you're driving away these miles
So far away from your southern home
Takin' your charms and dreams to the Golden State
Make your way, seal your fate."

When Taylor Hicks wrote West Texas Sky as a struggling young musician, he could not know that fate would indeed take him to the Golden State where he won American Idol in 2006.

Taylor is returning to the blues and soul music that he wrote during those years with "Early Works," the first release on his own label, Modern Whomp Records.

“Early Works” features tracks from two independent albums, “In Your Time,” recorded when Taylor was just 19, and his 2005 release, “Under the Radar.” Vanguard Records in partnership with EMI Music will distribute “Early Works” to a worldwide audience of music buyers.

“Early Works” hits music shelves August 12!

Early Works from Taylor Hicks will go on sale     exclusively at Target Stores, the singer/songwriter recently announced.

Taylor follows a growing trend set by The Eagles, Bo Bice, Madonna, and other artists who have had exclusive marketing arrangements with a major music retailer. Fellow American Idol, Carrie Underwood, also has an exclusive release at Target Stores.

Modern Whomp Records, the artist's own record label, is set to release the album August 12.
