Taylor says goodbye to Atlanta at Smith's Olde Bar in an 8:00 p.m. show Sunday evening. Spoonful James with Wynn Christian is the opening act and Ben Deignan, who is touted as a young John Mayer, will join Taylor for the acoustic performance.
Taylor and the night scene...
Taylor was out and about after his “Grease” performance in Atlanta. He joined in with locals playing his harmonica at The Star Bar, a favorite place for talented local bands. Clay Conner captured the moment in a photo on his MySpace.
“Perfect” review...
“Taylor Hicks serenaded the audience with the tune, "Beauty School Drop-out", played a little harmonica, and broke out! Perfect. His fans chose to stay around after the show to get autographs from the pop idol and check out his new CD, Distance. The true Grease fans were not bomarded with the American Idol era of stardom within the show, it only added some flare.” (AM Atlanta Unique Arts Examiner, Monica Hill)
Good to be from the South...
Taylor told Good Day Atlanta last week: “I’ve come from the South and I’ve been able to be in the heart of Dixie...so I’ve been able to listen to so many different styles of music have those styles and influences influence me in writing...it’s a wonderful thing to be from the South because you get to hear all the different sounds.” (Fox5)

Taylor answers questions for Rodney Ho and fans...
“Taylor Hicks three years ago said his life ambition was to live on a bus and just play music. After winning 'American Idol,' the prematurely gray-haired soul singer has gotten that wish. He has no house, no rent or mortgage, no utility bills. 'I’ve been living out of a suitcase since 2006,' he said in an interview last month to promote his role as Teen Angel in the national tour of 'Grease,' which is at the Fox Theatre.”
Ho asked fans to send in questions for Taylor:
One fan wondered if he’d be doing anything for country music?
"'That’s the direction I’m heading. That’s where great songs can live. I think there’s no question I have those influences. Country and the blues. And that southern country rock sound...'"
Another fan said: "'I love how Taylor 'tags', 'blends' songs together.
I have always wondered if he knows ahead of time what words will come out of his mouth or is this somewhat ad libbed?"
"'I have musical Tourettes Syndrome,' he said. 'Van Morrison did tagging a lot. Sam Cooke. All the greats. They are all musical enough to incorporate other songs. Let’s face it. Songs come from other songs. And no, it’s not preplanned. It’s spontaneous thinking.'" (Rodney Ho blog.ajc.com/American-idol-blog)
